The winner of Google’s Best App of 2021 creates personalized meditation plans. The app, called Balance, took the top spot in the “Google Play Best of 2021” awards, an annual selection of apps and games that “made a positive contributions to culture this year.”
The winners were chosen by Google Play’s editorial team for their creative and forward-thinking approach. Balance asks a series of questions to learn about a user’s experience level and goals and then generates a meditation plan tailored to each individual.
According to Google, “apps focused on personal growth are in high demand.” The unprecedented challenges of the pandemic have clearly led many to introspection and self-discovery, and Balance winning Best App of 2021 is a fitting reflection of that.
Winners in other categories of the Google Play Best of 2021 list similarly focus on self-help and wellness. One of the winners of “Best for Personal Growth” is a hypnotherapy app for women called Clementine, and one of the “Best Hidden Gem” winners is an app called Laughscape that provides relaxation through comedy.
